History

1464, Douai (France), by Alain de la Roche, under the name of Mary-Psalter Confraternity, as a spiritual association of Catholics. The Confraternity of Cologne (Germany), set up 1475, is usually considered the mother Confraternity of Rosary. Current constitution issued by Pope Leo XIII, 2 Oct 1898. Also known as Rosary Society or Rosary Altar Society.
