History

27 Aug 1930, Cologne (Germany), as International Federation of Christian Trade Unions of Public Services -- Fédération internationale des syndicats chrétiens du personnel des services publiques. Also previously referred to as International of Functionaries -- Fédération internationale des fonctionnaires des services publiques. Amalgamated, Sep 1950, Innsbruck (Austria), with International Federation of Christian Postal Workers, set up 3 Aug 1922. Present name adopted 1969. One of the International Trade Federations (ITF) (a World Secretariat for Trade Action) of World Confederation of Labour (WCL). WCL merged with International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) to form International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), Nov 2006.

Research/documentation; events/meetings. Occupational groups include World Council for the Post and Telecommunications Profession, set up 24 Oct 1982, Caracas (Venezuela), which promotes social and economic emancipation of workers in the sector.
