Caribbean Association of Medical Technologists (CASMET)
28 Sep 1954, as Society of Medical Technologists, West Indies following meeting in May 1953, Jamaica, held by senior technologists from government laboratories and from the Department of Pathology, University of the West Indies, Mona, to establish Association for Medical Technologists in Jamaica. Current name adopted Oct 1979, Bahamas.
Promote development and interchange of technical knowledge in the field of medical technology; make representation on behalf of members with reference to matters of professional interest, employment status and recognition; encourage formation of new Branches; encourage high standards of professional conduct; consider, promote, support or oppose proposed and/or existing legislation or other measures affecting the welfare of members; establish and improve dialogue with other teaching institutions, funding agencies and governments in all matters related to the field.
