The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

Carries out scientific and educational projects and programmes; prepares recommendations to different power structures; organizes international conferences and academy readings. Priorities include: formation of the main principles of educational policy and philosophy; investigation of higher education as a system; development of new educational technologies; formation of common educational space of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS); investigation of academic and professional mobility in the Eurasian area; scientific supplying of the reformation of national education systems; development of innovative education and supplying of innovative processes in the higher educational sphere, as well as commercialization of scientific results; legal support of scientific and pedagogical employees activities; assistance in development of new science-capacious technologies.
