The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

1982, as International Development Research Group (GUF). 1995, present name and structure adopted.
Aims
Carry out basic research committed to produce knowledge which promotes the aspirations of vulnerable groups, the voiceless and those who lack opportunity to work and earn a decent living; combine development studies and international relations so as to create intellectual and knowledge synergies and syntheses; promote critical engagement with on-going theories and debates on globalization and development; study and analyze alternative ideas, approaches, movements for reform or subversion and practices that emerge through the processes of globalization and development; contribute to community service, disseminate information and research results and help local communities to engage in civic public education related to topical issues of development and international relations.
