27-29 May 1931, Bern (Switzerland), as International Congress of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Sciences -- Congrès international de sciences préhistoriques et protohistoriques (CISPP), a successor to H-XH0136 - Congrès international d'anthropologie et d'archéologie préhistoriques (CIAPP) which had existed since Sep 1985 - when referred to as 'Congrès paléoethnologique international (CPI)' - but which ceased functioning with the onset of World War I. Current name adopted 8 Jul 1956, Lund (Sweden). Present Constitution adopted by the Permanent Council, 25-30 Aug 1958, Hamburg (Germany FR), and amended by Permanent Council meetings: 11 Sep 1964, Saragossa (Spain); 30 Sep 1974, Ferrara (Italy); 21 May 1979, Zeist (Netherlands); 4 Sep 1989, Dublin (Ireland); 6 Sep 2011 at General Assembly, Florianópolis (Brazil).
