The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

14 June 1976, on ratification by Nordic Cultural Cooperation and within the framework of Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM), replacing Nordic Committee for Information and Documentation (NORDDOK), set up in 1970, and Committee for Cooperation between Nordic Research Libraries (NFBS), formed in 1972. Activities commenced 1 Jan 1977. Statutes revised 3 Dec 1991. As of 2005 inactive.

Aims

Promote Nordic cooperation in the field of scientific information and documentation, principally in connection with the research library system; coordinate, initiate and support activities making information of Nordic and non-Nordic origin more efficiently available to Nordic users within the scientific community, industry and official authorities; support activities making information of Nordic origin more efficiently available to users outside the Nordic countries; keep in step with progress and development in the library and documentation fields in and outside Nordic countries.
