History

1 Jan 1987, Vienna (Austria), continuing in part the activities of the former Vienna Institute for Development (VID), set up July 1962, Salzburg (Austria), a meeting being held simultaneously in Vienna, as a result of the Conference for Economic Cooperation and Partnership. Original title: Vienna Institute for Development and Cooperation (VIDC) -- Institut de Vienne pour le développement et la coopération -- Wiener Institut für Entwicklungsfragen und Zusammenarbeit -- Instituto de Viena para el Desarrollo y la Cooperación. Registered in accordance with Austrian law.

Aims

Promote international understanding in general and North-South cooperation in particular; foster interdisciplinary research and science in cooperation with institutions in the South; inform on current developments in North-South relations; conduct cultural exchange programmes and projects; undertake cultural projects in the South; engage in anti-racism and anti-discrimination activities and campaigns in the world of sports.
