26 Oct 1981, Makkah, following approval of the Constitution, 1980, Islamabad (Pakistan), at Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers (ICFM), and following an initiative of the C-XC4129 - Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as a result of 1st World Conference on Islamic Education, Apr 1977, Mecca. Also referred to as World Centre for Islamic Education and Instruction and as Centre for Research in Islamic Education. No further activity reported.
Aims
Improve and develop research work in every field of education, based on Islamic concepts and ideas; formulate educational policies for all levels; work for the propagation and teaching of the Arabic language, especially in the Islamic non-Arabic speaking countries; work for the translation of the Islamic educational materials, both from and to Arabic; organize training courses; develop cooperation and exchange of books and scientific research; establish centres for Islamic educational research.
Structure
Director and 2 Assistants. Board of Directors (meeting twice a year), composed of 15 members. Executive Committee, consisting of 5 members appointed by the Board for a 3-year mandate.
