History
Nov 1976, by D-XD2903 - League of Arab States (LAS), according to the conditions of resolutions taken at the Arab Summits of Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and Cairo (Egypt), for the re-establishment of Lebanese security following the civil war of 1975-1976. Became a Syrian force, 1979, when the troops of Sudan, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates departed. Jun 1983, the Lebanese Government failed to extend the mandate, thereby ending its existence, although not the Syrian military presence in Lebanon.
Structure
Under direct command of Syrian AR, Troops: 30,000, comprising 25,000 provided by Syrian AR and 5,000 from other Arab States.
