10 Jan 1962, The Hague (Netherlands), at the initiative of Denmark, Federal Republic of Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and UK, as a regional group for cooperative hydrographic and charting projects within the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO). Statutes adopted Jan 1963, Stockholm (Sweden); last amended 1994, Stavanger (Norway).
