History
Founded, having been proposed Apr 1989. A coordination centre for interdisciplinary applied coastal research created by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Barcelona), the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona) and H-XC4111 - International Federation of Institutes for Advanced Study (IFIAS), with the support of E-XE4161 - UNEP.
Aims
Initiate and coordinate: execution of coastal engineering and coastal science studies analysing and resolving coastal zone and nearshore problems; execution of coastal resources management studies aiming towards sustainable development of coastal zones and resources; education and training programmes on coastal zone problems and resources management.
