The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History
1973. Mandate confirmed by E-XE2442 - European Commission (EC) Decision, 1976. Originally under Directorate General III, 'Internal Market and Industrial Affairs', since 1989 is an integral part of Enterprise Directorate General. As of 2004 "doesn't exist any longer".
Aims
Encourage business cooperation; introduce a European dimension to the search by businesses, especially SMEs, for partners to cooperate in technical, commercial or financial operations.

Decentralized - operates through a network of local correspondents throughout the European Union and beyond. Acts as secretariat for U-XF0158 - Business Cooperation Network (BC-Net) and U-XF5002 - Euro Info Centres (EIC).
