Set up as a Charity under English law, 1965. Reconstituted as an intergovernmental organization, 1982. At F-XF3257 - Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), 2009, Port-of-Spain (Trinidad-Tobago), Heads of Government committed to reform of Commonwealth institutions. Foundation relaunched 1 Nov 2012. Registered as a UK Registered Charity, 15 Dec 1966.
