Promote the well-being of scientific activities within ECS scope in Europe; promote the scientific viability of ECS area as distinguished from other contiguous or partially overlapping areas; offer help to research funding organizations for the definition of programmes and for the evaluation of proposals within ECS fields of interest; give financial support to members and organizations in geographical areas where the economic situation endangers the scientific activities in ECS fields of interest.
