Founded 1995, Findhorn (UK), as EVEN - Eco-Village European Network, during International Conference on Eco-Villages and Sustainable Communities; inaugurated at UN Habitat Conference, Jun 1996, Istanbul (Turkey). An autonomous regional network within the framework of F-XF3890 - Global Ecovillage Network (GEN). Also previously referred to as GEN-Europe (GEN-E). Registered in accordance with German law.
Assert the primacy of community, active citizenship and solidarity at the heart of all models for sustainability, giving equal weight to four core dimensions of sustainability - the economic, the ecological, the social and culture - as being mutually reinforcing, each essential to sustainable community development that truly meets the needs of people and the planet.
