According to the 2016 Nepal Demographic and Health Survey, one in three women (33%) and one in ten men aged 15-49 have no education. 17% of women and 19% of men have only attended primary school, 26% of women and 34% of men have attended some secondary education.

Rural Women’s Network Nepal (RUWON Nepal), is a Women’s organization that has been working hard to improve the condition of marginalized girls and women in rural Nepal since 2007.
The organization strives to contribute for the economic and social development of the country at local, national and international levels by helping grassroots women and marginalized people through networking, empowerment, education and shelter.

RUWON Nepal enjoys Special Consultative Status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It is the highest status granted by the United Nations to non-governmental organizations (NGO’s), thereby allowing it to participate in the work of the United Nations.
Internally RUWON is fully authorised to carry out vital work and training inside Nepal.
