The Stanley Foundation, in partnership with
the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the MacArthur Foundation,
successfully marked the 10th anniversary of the Responsibility to
Protect (R2P) with a well-attended conference last week that examined
R2P through past experience and contemporary realities, and considered
its future.
The daylong program brought together figures critical to the historical and contemporary evolution of R2P, including United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon; members of the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty; key international, regional, and national officials; academic and policy experts; civil society figures; and journalists.
