History
EUREL stands for EURope RELigion, as a website of information on the legal and sociological status of religion, published by a group of expert members of a scientific network.
Aims
Provide accurate and up-to-date information on the social and legal status of religion in Europe from an interdisciplinary perspective, intended for the international scientific community, public authorities and political forces; gather comparative information concerning the enlarged Europe (EU member states, candidate countries and other European countries) and non-European countries; establish a network of researchers to encourage and stimulate interdisciplinary and international scientific and academic collaborations.

Carried out by a joint research centre of the "Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS)", the University of Strasbourg (UMR 7354 DRES) and a research centre of PSL/"Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes" (GSRL, Paris). Gathers at least one correspondent for each of the participating countries.
