Founded 1963, Naples (Italy), at the First International Symposium on Ostracoda, as Committee on Recent Ostracoda as a voluntary association. Current title adopted 1977. An official working group of C-XC2337 - International Palaeontological Association (IPA), under H-XA1752 - International Council for Science (ICSU) and B-XB3383 - UNESCO.
