Founded 1969, as a political group of the F-XE8849 - Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). Original title: Group of Independent Representatives. Subsequent English title, adopted Sep 1980: European Democrat Group (EDG). Current Statutes adopted 1 Jul 1993, Strasbourg (France).
As a centre-right coalition of members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, promote the respect of individual liberty and human rights and responsibilities under the rule of law, pluralist democracy and the support of a free market economy.
