The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1989. Merged with World Stroke Federation (WSF) to form World Stroke Organization (WSO), Oct 2006.

Aims

Promote and encourage advancement and dissemination of scientific information in the field; promote professional and cultural exchange of scientists worldwide; assist educational activities of young researchers; promote international cooperative studies and scientific endeavour.

Activities

Organizes: Scientific Congress (quadrennial up to 2004, biennial since 2008) for physicians or scientists involved in clinical and scientific aspects of cerebrovascular disease; Regional Stroke Congress. Endorses national and regional stroke conferences around the world; develops 'Global Stroke Initiative' in 3-part project in association with WHO and WFN.
