International Medical Geology Association (IMGA)
1990, under A-XA2723 - International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), under COGEOENVIRONMENT - then U-XE1453 - IUGS Commission on Geoscience for Environmental Management (IUGS-GEM) - as International Working Group on Medical Geology. Subsequently became a special initiative, under IUGS, 1997, and also an F-XF5114 - International Geoscience Programme (IGCP), with funding from H-XA1752 - International Council for Science (ICSU). Founded as a permanent organization building on all previous activities, 2006, when constitution and by-laws were adopted.
Facilitate interactions between geoscientists and biomedical /public health researchers in addressing human and animal health problems caused by geologic materials or geologic processes.
