Standing Committee on Physical and Engineering Sciences (PESC)
Mar 1995, at first meeting, having been proposed 1993, by General Assembly of F-XF2152 - European Science Foundation (ESF). Together with U-XE2478 - Standing Committee on Life and Environmental Sciences (LESC), replaces U-XE6310 - Standing Committee of European Science Research Councils (ESRC). Activities taken over by Scientific Review Group on Physical and Engineering Sciences.
Develop scientific initiatives within the ESF operational framework; make proposals for 'a la carte' scientific initiatives; undertake studies on large research facilities and assist in the evaluations and assessments and other special reviews requested by member organizations; provide specialist advice and input on a wide range of ESF actions and contribute to the development of the ESF science policy agenda and take a strategic view of the scientific area for which it has responsibility; cooperate in promoting multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary activities.
