Founded during a Conference at the European Commission of Human Rights, and under the initiative of Prof Franz Salditt on behalf of Deutscher Anwaltverein (Germany) and Rock Tansey QC on behalf of the Criminal Bar Association of England and Wales.
Be a leading group of independent criminal defence lawyers in the Council of Europe promoting the fundamental rights of persons under criminal investigation, suspects, accused and convicted persons; build a widespread association of criminal defence lawyers, from all member states; become a leading lobbyist and consultant on criminal law and justice in Europe; promote the interests of members in their professional development and in professional matters of common concern.
