History
6 May 1981, Lagos (Nigeria), at inaugural congress. Constitution last amended at 3rd Congress, 6-11 Mar 1989, Dakar (Senegal).
Aims
Promote the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases; promote the education and training of medical and paramedical personnel in cardiology, including cardiac pathology, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiovascular surgery and other related disciplines; educate the general public on cardiovascular health problems; encourage research by the formation of an African Heart Foundation which will ultimately fund and coordinate continental research activities and conferences in all aspects of cardiology.
