History

10 Mar 1960, Karachi (Pakistan), by the Government of Pakistan. Became part of International Islamic University, Islamabad.

Aims

Act as the research arm of the University; develop and disseminate methodology for research in various fields of Islamic learning; interpret the teachings of Islam in such a way as to bring out its dynamic character in the context of intellectual and significant progress of the modern world; identify and study contemporary problems of the world of Islam; contribute to the revival of Islamic heritage.

Activities

Appoints study groups for identifying issues facing the Muslim society. Serves as a clearing house of knowledge on various aspects of Islam. Organizes seminars, conferences, symposia and workshops.
