History
May 1978, Rome (Italy), as an independent intellectual forum of world citizens, under the auspices of B-XB3228 - Society for International Development (SID). In 1980 converted from an annual meeting into an on-going non-governmental forum for policy research, dialogue, and publications.
Aims
Advance a constructive dialogue between rich and poor nations on global development issues; serve as a sounding board and think tank for new ideas; monitor official North-South negotiations; act as a non-governmental channel for exploring the possibilities of consensus.
