History

Established 15 Oct 1975, Jakarta (Indonesia). Brunei Darussalam joined in 1985, Cambodia and Myanmar in 2001.

Aims

Promote active collaboration and mutual assistance in the development of petroleum resources in the region; collaborate in the efficient utilization of petroleum; provide mutual assistance in personnel training and the use of facilities and services in all phases of petroleum industry.

Activities

Interest focuses on all fields of the oil and gas industry. Drawing up a Memorandum of Understanding to expedite the Trans-ASEAN Gas Pipeline (TAGP). TAGP Task Force, set up Nov 1999, identifies possible new gas interconnections and addresses such cross-border issues as: energy/gas market reserves; supply and demand; economic feasibility and energy pricing; technical scheduling and gas pipeline and power grid routing; institutional, legal, financial/commercial and management frameworks.
