11 Oct 1995, as one of the 'European Network of Specialist Centres' of F-XF1447 - Open Partial Agreement on the Prevention of, Protection against and Organization of Relief in Major Natural and Technological Disasters (EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement), within the framework of the D-XD0435 - Council of Europe (CE). Original title: European Interregional Centre for Training Rescuers (ECTR) -- Centre européen de formation interrégional pour les sauveteurs.

Aims

Carry out multidisciplinary activities with priority given to active methods of work contributing to prevention, protection and relief in emergencies: preparation and implementation of programmes targeted at raising awareness of the population, local government and especially children, concerning disaster risk prevention and safe life activity; preparing trainers and training of special groups of population in first aid; activity directed at performing and harmonizing legislation in the area of civil protection, disaster reduction and emergency response; initiatives for development and implementation of the regional programmes aimed at reduction of trans-border disasters.
