The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).
History
as trust territory administered by the USA and consisting of about 2,180 islands and islets in the Western Pacific Ocean in the area generally known as Micronesia. The islands were seized by Japan from Germany in 1914, occupied by the USA in 1944, during World War II, and made a trusteeship within the framework of E-XE3378 - United Nations Trusteeship Council in 1947, being a strategic area in accordance with Article 83 of the Charter of the A-XA3375 - United Nations (UN). As the result of negotiations for termination of the trusteeship, Northern Mariana Is gained USA commonwealth status in 1978, and 3 other self-governing units were established under the military protection of the USA: Palau; Micronesia FS; Marshall Is. The trusteeship was dissolved in 1990, but Palau remained a trust territory until 1994.
