History

1977, Stockholm (Sweden). Dissolved in 2008 in order to facilitate national societies forming IASP chapters. The current version of SASP was founded in 2009.

Aims

Foster and encourage research on pain mechanisms and pain syndromes and improve the management of patients with acute and chronic pain by bringing together physicians, other health professionals and scientists with an interest in pain research and pain treatment; promote education and training in the area of pain in the Nordic countries; inform physicians, other health professionals and the general public of advances in pain research and pain therapy.
