History

Established following signature of an agreement between F-XD0055 - Andean Community and the US Government.

Aims

Promote dialogue concerning exchange of goods and services and the flow of investments between parties to the agreement; identify and propose the adoption of mechanisms to facilitate trade and investment; promote measures to improve effectiveness of the Andean Trade Preference Act (ATPA); identify and work towards elimination of restrictions on trade and investment; exchange and review information on trade and investment relations in order to conduct periodic evaluation of the evolution of these relations; coordinate efforts in multilateral and regional fora and bodies; encourage organization of business meetings and other complementary activities.

Structure

Council (meeting every 2 years) consists of Heads of Delegation to the Commission of the Andean Community and a USA trade representative.
