1977
History
1977, as a Regional Industry Club under the aegis the Working Group on Industrial Cooperation of E-XE8063 - ASEAN Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASEAN-CCI). Also referred to as ASEAN Iron and Steel Council (AISC).
Aims
Promote economic cooperation among the iron and steel industries in the ASEAN region in areas such as intra-ASEAN trade, the establishment of joint ventures and the exchange of technology and information; initiate, encourage and coordinate the preparation and implementation of programmes, plans and projects to accelerate and harmonize growth and progress of iron and steel industries in the region; compile and disseminate information of common concern; provide facilities for consultation and exchange of views between and among members; serve as a sole body representing the private sector to implement and deal with problems of ASEAN cooperation in iron and steel industries; develop and initiate preparation and implementation of plans, programmes and projects to promote and advance intra-regional trade and the trading of exportable iron and steel and related products; formulate and develop recommendations on investment incentive, tariffs, non-tariff benefits and other measures of protection for iron and steel projects and products for complementation.
