Mar 1973, as Lutheran/Roman Catholic Joint Working Group, following discussion by a previous commission between 1967 - 1971. In 1977, the Working Group became a Commission under the list title, also being referred to as: Roman Catholic/Lutheran Joint Commission and Lutheran/Roman Catholic International Commission. Second phase - 1973-1984; third phase - 1986-1993; fourth phase - 1995-2006; fifth phase 2009-present. Commission was appointed by B-XB2937 - Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and Vatican E-XF0800 - Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity (PCPCU); not an autonomous body.
