History

Founded Jan 1978, following proposals of a Standing Committee set up following 2nd International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 1974, Copenhagen (Denmark) and approval of Constitution, 1976, Coronado CA (USA).

Aims

Promote pattern recognition and allied branches of engineering, together with related arts and science; advance international cooperation in the field to stimulate research, development and the application of pattern recognition in science and human activity; further the dissemination and exchange of information on pattern recognition; encourage education in all aspects of the field.
