History
1603, as Academy of the Lincei; restored, 1847, as Pontifical Academy of the New Lincei; reorganized, and present name adopted, 1936. Comes within the F-XF8042 - Administrative Hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church.
Aims
Promote progress of mathematical, physical and natural sciences and the study of epistemological problems; keep the Church informed of scientific advances; provide a forum to give a moral dimension to scientific work.
