History

1992, by merger of European Ornithological Atlas Committee (EOAC) and International Bird Census Committee (IBCC).

Aims

Study the distribution, numbers and demography of European birds, applying rigorous and standardized procedures for data-gathering and interpretation in order to assure scientific validity; monitor distribution, numbers and demography so that changes may be both detected and, if possible, understood and so that the relevant agencies may be provided with a sound basis for the conservation and management of Europe's birds and their habitats.
