History

2 Sep 1970. Agreement signed, Jun 1973, by the D-XD3030 - OAS and the Government of Venezuela on the operation of INIDEF in its capacity of U-XE0944 - Centro Interamericano de Etnomusicologia y Folklore (CIDEF) of the Regional Programme for Cultural Development. A specialized institution of H-XE1088 - Inter-American Music Council. Currently superseded by U-XF1423 - Fundación de Etnomusicologia y Folklore (FUNDEF), which was set up on 13 Sep 1990 to unite INIDEF with U-XE1496 - Centro de las Culturas Populares and Tradicionales (CCPYT) and 2 Venezuelan national bodies, and was originally referred to as 'Fundación Internacional de Etnomusicologia, Folklore y Cultura Popular (FIDEF CP)'.

Aims

Educate and train Latin American specialists in folklore and ethnomusicology, application of folklore and ethnomusicology to education, and their impact on the various aspects of the traditional oral culture.
