History

Established 21 July 1921, Brussels (Belgium), as Standing Committee for International Congresses of Military Medicine and Pharmacy -- Comité permanent des congrès internationaux de médecine et de pharmacie militaires. Name changed, 1938, Luxembourg, to International Committee of Military Medicine and Pharmacy (ICMMP) -- Comité international de médecine et de pharmacie militaires (CIMPM). Present name adopted 1990. Previous Spanish title: Comité Internacional de Medicina Militar (CIMM). Statutes adopted 1930; modified: 1938, Liège (Belgium); 1954, Luxembourg; 1996, Beijing (China); 2007, Tunis (Tunisia); 2009, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia); 2013, Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

Aims

In the spirit of the Geneva Conventions, and with neutrality, impartiality and independence: maintain and strengthen the bonds of continuous professional collaboration between persons worldwide whose missions consist in caring for the sick and wounded of the Armed Forces and in seeking to improve their condition and relieve their pain in times of peace or conflict.
