Subject: CSD - New Hire Orientation/Training
Dear Employee,
Please go through the following information:
1. Fill the attached registration form and send along with a scanned copy of your International Passport and passport photograph to logistics@csdun.org for us to forward to our agent in charge of orientation program, travel arrangements and H-3 Visa processing.
2. Upon receipt of the Documents, you will be informed of the necessary requirements for travel and H-3 Visa procurement. Please note that all travel procedures are to be handled strictly by our agents and employees are to follow instructions to avoid any delays or complications in order to be on schedule for the program. Visit of the U.S. or any other embassy is not advise until letter of recommendation have been dispatched for visa/travel purposes and all requirements have been put in place by our agent.
3. Shortly after fulfilment of all the requirements with our agent, an official acceptance package consisting of the following documents will be sent to employees:
* Employee's Copy of approved form I-129.
* Petition for Non immigrant Worker.
* Official Training Invitation and Recommendation letter.
* Training program and Schedule.
* Participant's Travel Information Guide Prior to departure, the applicant receives an update on the status of his/her flight schedule from our Agent including the airline to be used, the expected time of departure (ETD) and expected time of arrival (ETA).
4. Our Agent picks up the employee at the airport upon completion of immigration and customs formalities.
5. CSD is responsible for meals, Flight and Transport expenses and not your Visa procurement charges with USCIS or with the U.S embassy.
6. For those who are U.S citizens and do not need visa, send only your filled registration form and passport photograph to us and indicate (U.S CITIZEN) on the subject of your email. Those with valid U.S visas but NOT the specified H-3 visa are expected to apply for the H-3 visa.
7. Employees will have one month to themselves for final preparations after their Orientation/Training exercise in the United States before resuming permanently in their respective duty stations. At this time they can travel back to their country if they wish or make preparations from the United States to their duty stations.
8. Spouse are allowed to travel with employee for the one month training in New York if employee wishes, but the travel arrangement will be conducted by our agents and the extra expense of spouse will be borne by employee and not CSD.

Training Program/Materials
A range of learning programs are considered to be critical for United Nations staff members. We encourage participants to print the training materials listed below that will be sent to them before they arrive for the program, and highly encourage them to review the materials in advance and prepare a list of important questions that they may want to ask during the Training/Orientation.

The above mentioned programs will be available in all the training batches scheduled in New York
City and new employees are expected to attend in order to finalize their recruitment process. Also, the
training materials will be made available to participants once all traveling preparations have been put
in place by our agents.
In addition to the above mandatory learning programs, the following programs will also be available and are strongly recommended:
Orientation program for New Staff.
Welcome to the UN.
General Service Development Series (GSD).
Supervisory Skills Development Series.
Financial support and necessary documents
Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) will be paid in accordance with the UN rules and regulations for the official arrival day through the conclusion of the training program, plus one day subsistence deemed to cover miscellaneous travel expenses such as visa application fee, airport taxes, trains, taxis, and any other travel incidentals. DSA will be paid to participants on arrival for the program in New York.
We need to obtain following documents from the participants in order to provide DSA.
- Copy of your passport (the pages that show your photo, signature, date of departure of your
country/arrival in New York)
- Copy of your e-ticket
- Ticket stub from your departing city to New York
If the air ticket was arranged by the participant (i.e. ticket arrangement was not made by CSD Agents), please provide below documents for reimbursement procedures.
- Receipt of the air ticket (original copy).
- Completed “Funds transfer request form”
Visa
IMPORTANT: Note that our agents will guide participants in obtaining the appropriate training visa required for the program. You will be notified when to contact the local Embassy or Consulate-General of the United States and present the necessary documentation including your Letter of Recommendation from CSD.
Accommodation and Meals
Reservation for accommodation will be made at Millennium UN Plaza Hotel for the period of the training/orientation batch entered for participants. Two meals will be provided daily in compliance with participants dietary/medical needs. Extra meals, snacks/desserts and other personal expenses can be covered by participants from the financial support you will receive.
