History
29 May 1965, Fort-Lamy, by the amalgamation of Organisation commune de lutte antiacridienne (OCLA) and Organisation commune de lutte antiaviaire (OCLAV), on signature of a convention by representatives of 9 governments. Also referred to in English as Common Organization for the Control of the Desert Locust and Grain-Eating Birds. No longer exists.
Aims
Undertake action to destroy insect pests, in particular migratory locusts, and granivorous birds, in the territories of member States; carry out or finance appropriate study, research and surveying.
Structure
Governing Council (meeting annually), consisting of the Minister for Agriculture of each member State. Executive Committee of 5. Director-General's Office. Regional Groups (4); Research Stations (3).
