History
24 Oct 1988, by Decision of E-XE3068 - Council of the European Union; Commenced operations 31 Oct 1989. The power to establish such a Court was conferred upon the Council by Article 168a of EEC Treaty, Article 140a of Euratom Treaty and Article 32d of ECSC Treaty. These articles were added to the respective Treaties by the Single European Act of 1985. Under those provisions the Court is attached to the F-XF0668 - Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) as an institution of the H-XF0662 - European Communities (EC). Rules of Procedure were adopted 2 May 1991, applicable from 1 Jul 1991. Aims
Similar to the European Court of Justice, ensure that the law is observed in the interpretation and application of Treaties constituting the European Communities and the provisions adopted by competent Community institutions.
