The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

Aims
Unite individuals interested in the cultural nature of development in research and training in this field and in projects set up in countries of the south and north; inform the public and governmental, intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations of concepts and analytical methods used by the network; liaise between grassroots groups and decision-makers and organize discussion and political pressure in favour of local contemporary cultures and development. From 1998: focus on local cultures in Europe and their impact on regional development and local democracy.
