40,000 opportunities. At least 40,000 international associations are active across the world, involving many thousands of people in a wide range of functions. In its ongoing quest to serve the needs of this community, the Union of International Associations (UIA) has launched a new online employment listing service at International Associations Job Board.

"The UIA plays a unique role as a clearing-house of information on the international community of associations" says Joel Fischer. "We often receive inquiries about global opportunities for employment and this is a chance for us to provide the means to link volunteers and job-seekers with openings across a spectrum of institutions."

"The Job Board is one of the facets of the ongoing advancement of the UIA's operations online. We look forward to continuing to provide a rich information environment for those working in international organizations and the academic communities which research and advance the work of international NGOs. We invite everyone to explore the growing list of opportunities and to share news of the service with their colleagues and networks."

Open to all bodies listed in the Yearbook of International Organizations, their national partners and allied industries, the Job Board provides listings for both paid employment and volunteer positions worldwide. Staff numbers in associations can vary from one or two up to several hundreds, and tasks can range from keeping an office running efficiently through lobbying, marketing or detailed application of relevant law to directing huge operations. Members of both committees and staff may be directly paid, or volunteers or seconded by other employers, the scope is enormous.

Work in associations can, increasingly, offer a career structure, based on academic qualifications and specific certification as well as modules in business and administration courses; nevertheless many employees or volunteers come to it by chance or through a particular interest.

Help is at hand! Whether you are in an association seeking personnel, or someone looking for a new opportunity, do check out this new service of the UIA, and make use of UIA's extraordinarily broad knowledge of international organizations: have a look now at International Associations Job Board.
