Two Novelties for Directors of Belgian International Associations

Legal advice. The Belgian Law governing international non-profit associations of 27 June 1921 is set to disappear and the new “Belgian Code on Companies and Associations” has just entered into force. Two novelties are of particular interest to directors of international associations having the form of an international non-profit association governed by Belgian law. A first novelty is the possibility to delegate daily management matters formally to a daily management body. A second novelty is the increased liability for members of the board. As a result, directors may have to pay more attention to their colleagues in the board than before. Read the full article by Marijke Roelants of BoldLAW on UIA’s website.

Why Toronto?
By Loren Christie, Director of Sales, Canada & International Congress

Did you know, that…?

Toronto is the gateway to Canada, its cultural progressiveness and rich diversity is what makes it so innovative, exciting and inspiring for association groups. Considered the most diverse city in the world, Toronto is home to more than 180 languages and dialects, and more than 50 percent of the population was born outside of Canada.

Toronto is the centre of business success in Canada, with game-changing innovation in key vertical sectors including Finance, Life Science, Advanced Manufacturing, Food & Beverage and Technology. In recent years the city has added more tech jobs than San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. combined. According to CBRE, Toronto ranks as North America’s fastest-growing tech centre and is one of the world's hottest spots for technology.

With over 1,000 festivals annually, Toronto never stops celebrating. No matter when your group is meeting here there is sure to be something to celebrate ...

Last year’s Conference gathered around 200 researchers, journalists and students, and this year we’re expecting an even larger number of attendees, who will benefit from the training workshops and sessions we have programmed ...
