My favourite spots:

Top restaurants:

Moyo V&A Waterfront: This new restaurant brings this leading African brand to the V&A Waterfront. The restaurant features an open-air souk (meaning open-air marketplace) and great emphasis is placed on sustainable products. The restaurant features walls of aquapodic lettuce, bringing farming right to your table’s edge. Traditional African musicians will entertain guests whilst they enjoy a wide variety of food from around the African continent.

The Cape Malay Experience: Located in the heart of the Constantia Winelands, The Cape Malay Restaurant is the perfect venue to experience local Cape Malay cuisine. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience where authentic and traditional food awaits diners. Spicy, rustic colours create a pleasant Eastern ambiance. Cape Malay cooking is unique to the Western Cape.

The Test Kitchen: Awarded best restaurant in South Africa for 2012, chef Luke Dale Roberts continues to impress with his unique culinary creations, incorporating local produce and served in his signature fine dining style. The restaurant is located in a renovated factory space and part of the regeneration of the old Woodstock industrial area that has transformed itself into the design and art centre of Cape Town. If in Cape Town on a Saturday, the Old Biscuit Mill Market located on this restaurant’s doorstep is the place to visit.

Top bars:

Wafu: With 180° vista of the Atlantic Ocean and the iconic Robben Island, there is no better place to relax and enjoy the sunset. Located in Mouille Point, overlooking the famous Promenade, it is the place to see Capetonians enjoy themselves at the end of the day.

Tjing-Tjing Rooftop Bar: Voted in 2012 as one of the “Best New Bars in 20 Cities” by Conde Nast, this Bar blends the laid-back Cape Town atmosphere with the trendy designer set in a Rooftop venue that overlooks the city skyline and Table Mountain.

The Planet Bar: The Mount Nelson Hotel is still one of the best places in Cape Town to enjoy a relaxing drink. This stylish bar blends the old-world charm of the country’s oldest hotel with the sophistication of the well-travelled international celebrity clientele.

Top three hot spots:

Shimmy Beach Bar & Restaurant: This new development located by the Cape Town harbour offers 2000 square metres of luxurious oceanfront indulgence. With its private beach area, swimming pools, bars and restaurant, this is the new place to be seen in Cape Town.

Mzoli’s Place: Mzoli's is a popular day and night spot that happens to be a butchery, but it is also a place to hang-out in Gugulethu. Celebrities, out-of-towners and international visitors join local Capetonians here for an amazing cultural experience.

The Reserve: One of the most exclusive venues in the city and definitely the place to mingle with Cape Town’s discerning party-goers. The club has been awarded the “World’s Finest Clubs Award” by “The World’s Finest Clubs” – a network of the most exclusive, trend-setting and elegant member clubs in the world. The Reserve is located in a historic, 150 year old building; the imposing space with its 12m high ceiling has been decorated in a fabulously eclectic style.
