Book on history of UIA and global civil society to be released

Associations History. The UIA was founded in 1907, aiming to record the relations and interests of international organizations across the world. Its long history makes it a prism through which to study the field of international organizations.
Bringing together many cross-disciplinary experts, International Organizations and Global Civil Society is the first scholarly book to cover both the UIA's early years and its more recent past. Key issues explored include the UIA's importance for the field of scientific internationalism, the relations between the UIA and other international organizations, and the changing position of the UIA when facing geopolitical challenges such as totalitarianism, the World Wars and the Cold War.

Education. The UIA Associations Round Table aims to promote and facilitate the work of international associations by providing training and networking opportunities.
  • The 7th Round Table Asia-Pacific will take place in Pattaya, Thailand on 19 & 20 September 2019.
  • The 13th Round Table Europe will take place in Brussels, Belgium on 4 November 2019.

Topics which are set to be covered include: UN Accreditation, networking, event organization, external communications strategy, membership, governance, legal statutes, and accounting.
Associations should expect to receive invitations and full programme details in the spring.

On 4 April, you are going to kick off the 29th Triennial Conference of the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW). What are the main goals and outcomes you hope to achieve with this conference?

The main business for our Triennial World Conference will be to elect a Board of Trustees; I will be standing down after 6 years as World President and a total of 12 years on the Board. We also have an interesting range of policy resolutions to discuss on matters focussed on international social policy, women, and the environment which will dictate our strategic path over the next three years. This business will be set in the context of a major social gathering of around 650 delegates from all over the world.
