Founded as a Society of secular priests committed to do missionary work in non-Christian countries. Approved 11 Aug 1664. According to the New Canon Law, it is now a Society of Apostolic Life. Also referred to as Society of the Foreign Missions -- Société des Missions étrangères.
Contribute to the spreading of Catholic faith and the growth of local Churches, mainly in Asia, by promoting the development of the local clergy and helping the local Christian communities in every possible way.
