History
1988, Koblenz (Germany FR), within the Federal Institute of Hydrology. Also referred to as WMO Global Runoff Data Centre. Operated under the auspices of B-XB3556 - World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Mandate reinforced by WMO Resolution 21 (CG-XII, 1995) and 25 (Cg-XIII, 1999).
Aims
Facilitate and optimize global information exchange on surface water hydrology, thus supporting international research in the fields of water resources, hydrology, climatology and global change, by collecting and disseminating a comprehensive and sound river discharge database.
